Warning Description: Special Statement

Warning Date: 9:12 am EDT on May 22, 2013

WarningSum:...Severe Thunderstorms Possible This Afternoon And Evening In
Southern New England...

Warning Message:Warm and humid air will return to the region today as a warm front
lifts into northern New England.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop early this
afternoon across upstate New York...then head into southern New
England during the afternoon and evening.
Some of the thunderstorms may be severe...especially to the north
and west of Interstate 95. Damaging winds and large hail are the
main threats.
The time frame for severe weather is between 2 PM and 9 PM...
although thunderstorms may persist through late tonight.
In addition...minor flooding is possible across western Massachusetts
and southwest New Hampshire...where over one inch of rain fell
yesterday.
Those with outdoor plans this afternoon and evening should have a
safe place to go if thunderstorms approach...such as a vehicle or
indoors. If you can hear thunder...you are close enough to be
struck by lightning.
Stay tuned to NOAA all hazards radio...or your local media for
updated information throughout the day.
